About Departure Pets

When business and passion collide. Both with backgrounds in animal care, Shaun and Shane collaboratively founded Departure Pets. Their shared passion for animal care and safe domestic and international animal transport inspired them to create a more personal pet travel experience.

​Departure Pets was founded in 2017, by breeders; Shaun and Shane.

At the age of 16, Shane dove into the world of ethical breeding. He studied vet nursing, excelling in radiography, anatomy + physiology, and animal behaviour. After an impersonal experience with a pet travel company when transporting his Bengal kittens, Shane was inspired to coordinate the transport of his kittens independently - ensuring they would receive the same love, care and attention throughout the entire journey and relocation process. Being a customer to the services he now provides allowed Shane to experience and understand the thoughts and feelings of a pet parent, adequately equipping him to implement the very things that made him want to begin Departure Pets.

Growing up on a farm, Shaun was surrounded by animals his entire childhood, eventuating into ethical fish and bird breeding; his passion for animals began at a very young age. With qualifications in animal handling and behaviour as well as experience in breeding and pet transportation, his complimentary dedication to business management was the perfect recipe for a company foundation with animal care and safety at the heart of the business.

Meet Shaun
Shaun, co founder and Managing Director of Departure Pets - oversees all Domestic Transport Services provided by Departure Pets. Shauns’ passion for business management and animal care inspired him to create a more personal pet travel experience, one we now provide at Departure Pets.

Operations Manager


Meet Matt
Matt is our Operations Officer, responsible for maintaining and improving the operations of Departure Pets. Matt coordinates all of our service schedules, ensuring all services provided by Departure Pets are in accordance with domestic and international departures, aircraft limitations, airline policies and IATA standards. Matt implements our systems that model pet safety, love and care at our core.

Meet Leanne
With over 10 years of experience in the pet travel industry, Leanne is our senior travel consultant and is responsible for facilitating commercial client pet relocations and overseas international imports such as quarantine releases and customs clearance.

Jacqui
Domestic Travel Consultant


Meet Jacqui
Jacqui has been apart of the Departure Pets family since 2020. With 9 years of industry experience, and also  having operated her own grooming practice, Jacqui's understanding of animals and the travel industry equips her in more ways than one. Jacqui is one of our domestic pet travel consultants, responsible for developing travel quotes, liaising directly with airlines to book flights and coordinating door to door services for our domestic clients.

Quotation Assistant

Meet Macy
Macy is our quotation assistant who’s responsibility is to provide clients with relevant and accurate quotes, meeting all needs in accordance with specific transport requirements. With past experience as a qualified pet groomer, trainer and animal attendant, her passion translates in this role perfectly.Macy has two dogs of her own, Winston, her miniature dachshund, and Mia, her Maltese Shi Tzu x.

Domestic Travel Consultant

Meet Sarah
Sarah is one of the newest additions to the Departure Pets Family. Her role is to develop and provide travel quotes to our clients, analyse client needs and determine accurate flight routing. She also works directly with our clients to secure flights and coordinates most aspects of your pets travel.

Meet Bec
Bec is another recent addition to the Departure Pets Family. Bec’s role is to provide clients with relevant and accurate quotes, meeting all needs in accordance with specific transport requirements. In her spare time, Bec volunteers at a local charity. Her compassionate nature shines through and is practiced in her work when coordinating the travels of your fur babies.

Meet Jas
Jas is one of our domestic pet travel consultants; responsible for developing travel quotes, liaising directly with airlines to book flights and coordinating door to door services for our domestic clients. Jas has a background in digital marketing and photography and has been in the industry since 2021.

Molly
Domestic Travel Consultant

Meet Molly
Molly who joined the Departure Pets Family back in the beginning of 2022 (originally based in Melbourne) is now working at our Brisbane office and is responsible for developing travel quotes, executing client bookings and the occasional pet collection and delivery. With past experience as a Pet Groomer and a diploma of Equine Business Management, Molly’s love for animals is evident not only in her work, but in her hobby’s as well. She also has 3 beautiful groodles of her own - Rosie, Marli and Archie.

International Travel Consultant

Meet Amy
Amy is our international pet travel consultant. Amy is responsible for all of our International exports to Europe and the United Kingdom. This includes providing relevant and specific quotes, coordinating all of the government documentation and managing the compliance of all certificates and permits. Amy has a thorough understanding of travel, with a Certificate IV in Travel and Tourism. Amy’s love for pets started many years ago when she first ventured into photography and specialised in pet portraits. Her love for animals translates through her work and the relationships she builds with all of her clients, loving and treating their pets like her own.

MEL Pet Handler

Meet Cindie
Our Melbourne Pet Handler Cindie has been responsible for collecting and delivering pets to and from their locations, keeping pets company during transit stops and facilitating our international departures for the past 3 years with Departure Pets. Cindie has been and is very involved in animal welfare and handling, including the Bull Arab adoption program she used to manage, and is still actively involved with. She also fosters animals in her spare time, 3 of which were so loveable that she couldn’t say goodbye to and are now permanent members of her family; Jack, Molly and Gypsy.

Meet Karen
With extensive experience in the pet industry, Karen has a strong background and love for animals. An example of this is her history as an esteemed greyhound trainer and in greyhound racing, as well as having previously owned a boarding facility for many years. Karen is one of our pet handlers in Melbourne responsible for collecting and delivering pets to and from their locations, keeping pets company during transit stops and facilitating our international departures.

Meet Iain
With over 7 years in the industry, Iain is our Brisbane Operations Manager, responsible for coordinating schedules, collecting and delivering pets to and from their locations, keeping pets company during transit stops and facilitating our international departures. His love and care for animals is evident in all he does. Having previously worked as an African Animal Keeper at Australia zoo, his knowledge and understanding  of pet safety, happiness and comfort makes him the perfect man for the job.

SYD Operations Manager


Meet Leuca
Leuca is our Sydney Operations Manager. With 4 years in the Animal Care Industry, a Certificate II in Animal Studies and a Certificate III in Captive Animals, Leuca is well equipped and passionate about the care of all fur babies. Her love for animals can be seen in all that she does and is evident in the comfort of your fur babies when in her care. “I completed a Bachelor of Forensic Science & Biochemistry, but I never used it. I much prefer working with animals and love my job which gives me the opportunity to do this daily".

SYD Pet Handler


Meet Isabella
Isabella is one of our Pet Handlers in Sydney. With previous experience as a Pet Groomer and working at a Pet Boarding Facility, her calming touch and understanding of animal care is exactly what your fur baby wants and needs when travelling in unfamiliar environments. In her spare time, Isabella loves to foster kittens and very much enjoys loving all animals as her own. With a future goal to become a dog trainer, her passion and patience is executed thoroughly in this role. “Nothing makes me happier than when an owner is surprised that their dog loves me! I aim to send all dogs home with a smile on their face”
