Pets travelling to Australia must complete ‘post-entry quarantine’ in Australia’s animal quarantine facility in The Department of Agriculture and Water Resource Quarantine Facility, Mickelham, Melbourne for a minimum of ten days.

Pets travelling from New Zealand are exempt from quarantine and can fly directly to any international airport within Australia.

Australia is free from a number of cat and dog diseases, which makes it a great place to keep pets, however we need to protect this disease-free status.  All cats and dogs must undertake a period of quarantine upon arrival in Australia. This quarantine period allows the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources to monitor the animal's health and become aware of any disease concerns prior to the animal's release into Australia.
